The Venice Art Biennale is not something to rush. In Minor Keys, conceived by Koyo Kouoh, fills the major Giardini and Arsenale sites, reaches Forte Marghera and continues across Venice through national participations and collateral events.
In Minor Keys: the 61st International Art Exhibition
Biennale Arte 2026 runs from 9 May to 22 November. In Minor Keys was conceived by Koyo Kouoh and is centred on the Giardini, Arsenale and Forte Marghera — three very different settings that are best treated as substantial parts of the visit rather than quick stops.
The Biennale continues beyond the main venues
The 2026 edition includes 100 National Participations and 31 Collateral Events, with seven countries taking part for the first time. Pavilions and projects also appear in palazzi, churches, foundations and temporary spaces across Venice, making the Biennale a useful way to explore parts of the city beyond the usual first-time route.
2026 opening hours
Until 27 September, Giardini and Arsenale generally open from 11am to 7pm; on Fridays and Saturdays the Arsenale stays open until 8pm. From 29 September to 22 November, the usual hours are 10am to 6pm. Monday is normally the closing day, with specific exceptional openings listed by La Biennale. Check the official timetable before visiting.
Tickets and how the standard admission works
Standard admission is €30, with a €20 concession for over-65s and Venice residents and €16 for students and under-26s. A one-access ticket includes one entry to Giardini and one to Arsenale, and those visits may be on different, non-consecutive days. A three-consecutive-day pass (€40) and a seven-consecutive-day weekly pass (€50) are also available. In October, an official €40 Art + Music formula combines Biennale Arte with one Biennale Musica concert.
A better way to plan your Biennale day
Giardini and Arsenale can each take several hours. If possible, split them across two half-days or two days and choose a limited number of sections or pavilions that genuinely interest you. Trying to add St Mark’s, Rialto and the islands on the same day usually makes the experience much less enjoyable.

Do not try to see everything. Choose a few sections, allow time for moving between venues and leave enough space to actually absorb what you see.
