Do Architecture: the 2027 theme

The official curatorial statement presents architecture as a concrete act rooted in places, materials, communities and real conditions. It explores coexistence between tradition, local knowledge, nature and innovation rather than treating architecture as an abstract or purely technological answer.

Wang Shu and Lu Wenyu

Wang Shu and Lu Wenyu are Chinese architects known for work that pays close attention to materials, building processes and the relationship between contemporary change and the memory of place. They are the appointed curators of the 2027 International Architecture Exhibition.

Biennale College Architettura 2026/2027

La Biennale selected 12 international projects for the third edition of Biennale College Architettura 2026/2027 from more than 80 applications submitted from 36 countries. The participants join a workshop in Venice from 22 to 30 September 2026, coordinated by Wang Shu and Lu Wenyu together with the programme tutors. After the workshop, up to four projects may be selected, each receiving a €25,000 grant to produce the final work, to be presented out of competition at Biennale Architettura 2027. The 12 projects therefore belong to the workshop phase and are not yet 12 confirmed exhibitors for the 2027 Exhibition.

Where it takes place

The main venues are the Giardini and Arsenale. Further national participations, collateral events and venues across Venice will be added here only once the 2027 information is officially published.

Opening hours and tickets

The current general hours are 10:00–18:00, with Mondays closed unless otherwise announced. 2027 tickets are not yet available; prices, concessions and purchase details will be added when La Biennale publishes them.

How long to allow

Giardini and Arsenale are both extensive and content-heavy. If you want to see many pavilions, avoid squeezing everything into a few hours; splitting the visit across two sessions or days can make the experience much more manageable.

Visiting with children

Choose a few priority sections, alternate exhibitions with outdoor breaks and keep the day flexible. Any 2027 educational activities and family services will be added when officially announced.

Getting there

Giardini and Arsenale can be reached by vaporetto and on foot from several parts of Venice. If you are staying on the mainland, plan the trip into Venice first and then the final connection to your chosen venue.

Stay in Marghera, leave your car at the apartment’s free private parking and continue to Venice by bus or train rather than searching for parking at Piazzale Roma or Tronchetto on busy days.
